During the weight loss phases of the Ideal Protein Protocol we limit the carbohydrate intake to force the body to turn to its fat and muscle compartments. Because we are consuming Ideal Protein high-biological protein foods throughout the day, muscle mass loss will not occur leaving the body to only target fat cells.
