On 19 June 2017, a year after the release of episode 6, Sloan hinted towards additional work into the Don't Hug Me I'm Scared series.[11][non-primary source needed] A teaser trailer titled "Wakey Wakey..." was released on the channel on 13 September 2018, teasing a new television show made in a collaboration between Blink Industries, Conaco, and Super Deluxe. The 30-second video gained over two million views within 24 hours of its release and peaked at No. 1 on YouTube's Trending list.[12][13] Details of the plot were released on 3 December 2018 in advance of a 2019 Sundance Film Festival screening of the pilot.[14] The pilot episode ran at 23 minutes, and it appeared in the "Indie Episodic Program 1" alongside other short films.[15] On 24 May 2022, the trailer was made private on the official YouTube channel.
On 19 June 2022, a teaser trailer for the television show titled "FLY" was uploaded to the official YouTube channel. It was revealed that the show would be airing in September 2022 and would consist of 6 episodes.[2]
On 4 September 2022, a TV trailer for the show was shown on TV, and later uploaded on the official Youtube channel titled "12TH OF SEPTEMBER EGG". The show was planned to release on 12 September 2022, but was unfortunately delayed as a result of the death of Queen Elizabeth II. It might also be due to Albert Sustainable Production Certification releasing Colourblocks that same date. Afterwards, the trailer was renamed to "LATE SEPTEMBER! (EGG)". A new release date was eventually revealed, that being 23 September 2022.[9]
We then see the three main characters sat at the kitchen table, as they were shown in the first shot of the YouTube series. As they sit at the table, one of the flies that could be heard earlier somehow makes its way into their kitchen and buzzes around them for a bit, before Duck smacks it with a clipboard and says "Pesky bee". It then ends with a shot of Yellow Guy's dad and announces the release date of September 2022.
When is the planned Don't Hug Me I'm Scared TV show hitting the screens in the U.S.? Don't Hug Me I'm Scared has started generating a lot of discussion online in 2022. It's a brilliantly dark and comedic subversion of preschool-friendly shows like Sesame Street. Unlike the wholesome adventures of Big Bird and Elmo, the world Yellow Guy, Red Guy, and Duck exist in is pure nightmare fuel. The sense of unease is masterfully crafted throughout each episode, and the sense of dread that builds watching the puppets navigate problems like the inevitability of death is as harrowing as it is inexplicably watchable.
Running from 2011 to 2015, the original Don't Hug Me I'm Scared (or DHMIS) consisted of six YouTube episodes. Following DHMIS' cult success it was destined to reach TV screens sooner or later, and the U.K.'s Channel 4 premiered the full-length Don't Hug Me I'm Scared show in September 2022. Unfortunately, it's not clear whether Don't Hug Me I'm Scared will be seeing an official release in Canada and the U.S. However, there are other ways to catch this surreal comedy, as first-time viewers hoping to catch up on the series can still see its original episodes on YouTube. Here's everything audiences need to know about Don't Hug Me I'm Scared.
Don't Hug Me I'm Scared fans had a four-year wait following the pilot's announcement, but in July 2020, it was finally confirmed a Don't Hug Me I'm Scared TV show was going ahead on Channel 4. Curiously, Don't Hug Me I'm Scared's 2022 television premiere proved to be starkly different from the original series, as it went in a more evergreen and abstract direction rather than the original's topical and political fare. This proved to be the correct decision as it was quickly embraced by long-time viewers, and it also proved that Don't Hug Me I'm Scared can tackle basically anything with its bizarre premise.
This only developed further as the show shifted from web series to Channel 4 program, allowing the creators to focus more on the three main characters and their inner workings. In a 2022 interview with It's That Nice, Joe Pelling explained how the process differed during the television production.
The teaser video, titled 'Fly,' begins in a rundown area showing broken and abandoned houseware before panning to a TV flickering between shots of Duck, Red Guy, and Yellow Guy. As the camera focuses on the TV the sound of buzzing flies is heard, perhaps hovering over something that is dead or decaying. It continues from there, announcing a release date at the end, but we don't want to spoil the rest of the video for you. 781b155fdc
